Alisson is our Mindfulness Hero of the week and he wanted to share his story to inspire you.  As you read his unique perspective on meditation he let’s you know that meditators all over the world are with you on this journey towards mindfulness.

Let’s listen to what he has to say:

1. What does meditation mean to you?
Meditation used to be something inaccessible to me, it was something I could not fit in my everyday life. Aware changed my perspective of meditation and how I should approach it. Now I see meditation as a tool to help assess my feelings and to bring control whatever that feeling is good or bad.
2. Could you share some tips on meditation for beginners?
I think that the most important tip to have in mind is to keep trying because sometimes it’s going to be really hard to keep concentrated. The way I face this scenario is doing even a simple 5 minutes session just to not break the routine.
3. What are the few challenges you have faced with meditation and how have you overcome them?
I’m very anxious in general and keeping focused during the sessions of meditation is hard sometimes. Yet even when I’m really distracted I try to return to training and follow the instructions, it does not matter whether it was just for the last minute.
4. How has Aware helped to make meditation easier for you?
As a beginner in meditation, Aware guides me through the simplest things like breathing and specific exercises. Another benefit that I found using the app is the ability to work on my meditation session inside my room by myself whenever I can.
