Mario is our Mindfulness Hero of the month, and this is what he had to say, very quickly, about his experience of meditation. Maybe you could find something in common with him:
1. What does meditation mean to you?
Meditation is the best part of my day where I can let go of everything that does not fit into a happy life.
2. Could you share some tips on meditation for beginners?
Always try one more time. In my experience, my first days of meditation were sometimes hard since I tried to control my mind. But with practice and the support of my teachers and the guidance of the apps it now feels like a smooth time for myself.
3. What are the few challenges you have faced with meditation and how have you overcome them?
I guess the most difficult for me was not to lose focus because of drowsiness. I was always stressed so when I meditated my body got relaxed and sort of “assumed” it was time to sleep. It’s a beautiful thing to finally rest for hours but it was getting in the middle of my practice. So I just tried to breathe more heavily whenever I felt drowsy and sleepy and it has worked well for me. It still happens but I feel more in control of it now.
4. How has Aware helped to make meditation easier for you?
It’s an excellent guide with amazing specific programs. I feel comfortable using it when I meditate.
